Shining Lights Early Childhood Center opened its doors in September 1998. As a ministry of Bethel Baptist Church, we endeavor to provide parents of all backgrounds and needs with the best quality childcare at a reasonable cost.
All of our teachers and aides are members of local Bible–believing churches and are involved in ministry.
We are located at 1720 Springdale Road in the Bethel Baptist Family Life Center. This is a completely redesigned center made specifically for the needs of young children. Classrooms are spacious and inviting.
We view each child as an individual and meet his or her needs accordingly. We keep our class sizes small so that we can teach a more manageable group, thereby maximizing the potential for learning.
We are fully licensed by the State of New Jersey Division of Children and Families to serve children ages 6 weeks through school-age. We have been re-accredited three times through the Association of Christian Schools International . This helps to ensure that Shining Lights is not only meeting the state licensing standards, but is working to maintain a higher quality standard for our children and families.

What I'd Like You to Know About Shining Lights...
Shining Lights was established in 1998 as a ministry of Bethel Baptist Church. Our desire was not only to provide a quality, developmentally appropriate early childhood program, but to do so with a level of caring not seen in some corporate centers. We wanted to offer families a child-focused program with a unique loving atmosphere.
We are committed to:
*Offering childcare at affordable rates, without compromising quality
*Maintaining lower than recommended staff/child ratios.
*Keeping group sizes smaller to ensure a better teaching environment
*Having an accredited program, which ensures a higher quality standard
*Hiring wisely – Getting the right person for the position, not just someone to fill a spot.
We think we have achieved that and this shows in our programs:
*On any given day we maintain an overall 1 to 8 teacher child ratio.
*Our largest class will never go over 15 children and even fewer children in the younger classes.
*We are accredited by A.C.S.I and have maintained our accreditation status since 2004.
*Teacher turnover is very low and attrition is about 1 teacher every three years.
As a parent, know that your child will feel comfortable and cared for here. Your child will learn, grow and feel secure with all of the staff who work here, not just their classroom teacher. We will communicate to you through daily reports, a monthly newsletter and conferences throughout the school year. We also invite you to join us for field trips, come to our programs and special days. I think Shining Lights offers a great start for children and I think you will too.
